iConcertCal review
last week I discovered iConcertCal, a plug-in for iTunes that will allow users to enter their postal code and a radius and then display a calendar with events.
The calendar is treated as a visualizer, so it cannot be used with one of the actual effects – which all look like they were ripped of from Cthugha Player anyway. But, in theory, if you are looking at a calendar, you aren’t watching plasma effects simultaneously; that’s a level of multi-tasking that I’m not capable of anyway.
It got my ZIP code wrong and thought that I was in a suburb – not that it made much difference – but this was extremely easy to change. As was extending the radius from 75 miles to 150 miles. I was also pleasantly surprised at which concerts are displayed; I assumed that all events in my area would be listed, but the plug-in is smart enough to only show events from artists that are in your library. This can still be annoying at times if you have compilation or soundtrack albums containing many artists – several of which you don’t really care for. Overall though, this is a much better solution than any of the alternatives that I can think of: showing all events or asking the user for a list or artists.
Now I just wish I had the time to go to concerts. Ah college was such a great time.
